The Leonard Cohen Festival begins tomorrow, August 7, in Dublin with a programme including concerts, readings and a screening of concert footage from Cohen's 2013 tour.

Registration is at the Lansdowne Hotel at 7.30pm. Cohen through the spoken word is celebrated on Friday 8 at Liberty Hall Theatre (2.30-4.30pm) and features writer, memoirist and sometime broadcaster, John MacKenna, who has been a friend of the singer for years,

Renowned Dublin writers, Dermot Bolger and Gerard Smyth, will also take part. International bands and artists performing Cohen songs include Ali & the Thieves from Australia and Patricia O’Callaghan from Canada.

Irish musicians and bands interpreting the Canadian artists's work include the great Tir na nÓg who comprise of Sonny Condell and Leo O'Kelly.
