Zachary Quinto has revealed that he is unlikely to return in the Heroes reboot due to a hectic work schedule.

The actor played villain Sylar - a superpowered serial killer who targets other superhumans to steal their powers - in the original NBC series.

Quinto has revealed that he has been in talks with the show's creator Tim Kring about reprising his role for Heroes Reborn.

He told The Wrap: "I've been talking to Tim and I'm really excited that they're doing that show. I don't really see the room for me to be involved at this point, just based on my schedule. But, I'm not sure if it will work out just based on availability alone."

He added: "I know I'll be excited to watch it and be a part of it any way I can."

Quinto has had a successful career since starring in Heroes, appearing as Spock in Star Trek and the follow-up Star Trek Into Darkness, as well as anthology TV series American Horror Story.

NBC has ordered 13 episodes of the spinoff series Heroes Reborn, which will air in 2015.
