Mel Gibson spoke out supporting, Shia LeBoeuf. He said his recent bad behaviour is evident he's going through a tough time and that he is suffering.

The former Transformers star is currently seeking treatment for alcoholism, having been arrested following an altercation with Theatre Security staff. He was charged with disorderly conduct, criminal trespass and harassment.

Mel sympathises as he knows how hard it can be, being in the public eye when things go wrong. He recently walked the red carpet in Germany where he wore a brown paper bag over his head while walking the red carpet at a German film festival.

Gibson says he has no doubt that the 28 year old actor will bounce back.

Gibson who has faced his own personal controversies understands the difficulties he may be going through.

According to the World Entertainment, News Network Gibson said 'When I see someone like Shia Le Boeuf with the bag on his head and stuff, my heart goes out to the poor guy. I think he's suffering in some way."

"Why would he do that? People are inclined to point the finger at him and say that he's this, that or the other. It's easy to judge. But I'm sure he's going through some kind of personal, very painful, cathartic thing that he has to [...] get out there."

"I like the kid. He'll be alright. I never met him but I like him."
