Joan Rivers stormed out of an interview with CNN anchor Fredricka Whitfield.

The comedienne was promoting her new book, Diary of a Mad Diva, when she took offence to some of Whitfield's questions about her "mean" comments on Fashion Police, her "shock value", animal rights and boundaries in comedy.

When the interviewer asked Rivers if she deliberately riled animal rights campaigners by wearing fur on the cover of her book, Rivers answered: "This whole interview is becoming a defensive interview. Are you wearing leather shoes? Then shut up."

She then took out her earpiece, saying: "I'm going. All you've done is negative … I've made people laugh for 50 years. I am put on earth to make people laugh."
