The value of Lou Reed’s estate has increased by $20.4 million, or almost 15 million Euros more since his death, in addition to the money distributed in his will.
According to documents lodged with Manhattan Surrogate Court, the singer's estate totals $30m (£17.5m), with two-thirds of that gathered by his manager, Robert Gotterer, since Reed's death at the age of 71 last year.
The New York Post claims that the additional money "is likely from Reed’s copyright and publishing interests . . . "
Laurie Anderson, Reed’s musician wife, is the main beneficiary of the New York rocker’s will. He left his $7m Manhattan apartment to her, along with a $1.5m property in the exclusive Hamptons area in Long Island. Anderson will also receive $15m of the money which manager Gotterer has carefully gathered.
Reed left his sister Margaret Reed Weiner $500,000 to care for their mother. She will receive a further $5m from the money Gotterer collected.
