Radio DJ Zane Lowe has promised "compelling" interviews with music stars on his new MTV series Soundchain.
Ed Sheeran, Nas and Biffy Clyro are among the musicians who will feature on the new show which will see Lowe speak to a different act each week about their respective career and back story.
Queens of the Stone Age, Chase & Status, Jake Bugg and Kasabian are also set to appear in the first run of the show.
“We keep it really simple, and try not to reinvent anything,” he said at a Q&A in London yesterday (June 25). "If you get the right subject matter then it can be a compelling watch. It's about concentrating on their journey.”
The BBC Radio 1 DJ said that Soundchain is unique as it provides a historical document about different artists and where they are in 2014. “What's really cool is that all these artists, a lot of them are really new.
“It's quite rare to speak to someone like Ed Sheeran and go, 'Let's go back', because he's too busy looking forward.
“Just because he's on album number two, it doesn't mean he's not the zeitgeist, because he is, he's number one all around the world.
“Let's put a pen in the timeline for people to watch now to go back to, so we can get to know what Ed Sheeran's about after album number two, as opposed to when he's 45 and winning a lifetime achievement award.
“We wanted to contextualise the journey and hear the emotional stuff and funny stuff and put it all together.”
