Homeland star Diego Klattenhoff has admitted that he is unlikely to appear on the show’s upcoming fourth season.

Klattenhoff joined NBC drama The Blacklist in 2013 and continued to appear on Homeland in a recurring capacity. But he’s told Digital Spy that he does not expect to feature again.

“I think they've moved on,” he said. “I had such a great run, but from what I understand, Carrie (Claire Danes) is gone overseas and I don't know how they would squeeze it in.”

Klattenhoff added that he had been “too busy” to watch Homeland's third season, but that he had read the “tough” finale script, which we won’t mention in any detail here in case you haven’t seen it.

“I think people were very affected by how that all ended,” he said. “So we'll see what they have up their sleeve for season four this year. I'm sure it's going to be pretty amazing.”

Homeland will return to Showtime in the US and RTÉ Two in late 2014.
