The director of Looper, which starred Joseph Gordon Levitt, Rian Johnson will direct Star Wars: Episode VIII.

Star Wars Episode VII is currently filming with JJ Abrams in the driving seat and Deadline has reported that Johnson will direct the sequel.

Johnson summed up his feelings in a prayer-like-tweet quoting a famous line from The Right Stuff movie: "Dear Lord, please don't let me **** up."

Interestingly, the director had told Digital Spy: "I don't think I'm on those sorts of lists.

"On the one hand, it's Star Wars, it would be very hard to say no to.

"On the other hand, for me, I'm really enjoying just writing my own stuff, and right now that's what I'm doing... I don't think it's a problem that I'll have to deal with!"
