Comedian and TV host Chelsea Handler will host a new talk show on Netflix that will air beginning in 2016.

As part of the deal, the US streaming media giant will also stream a Handler stand-up special and four docu-comedy specials.

The show will feature guest interviews and Handler’s opinionated take on the news, while it’s yet to be announced whether it will be broadcast on a daily or weekly basis.

“If I was going to continue working in this industry, I knew I had to do something outside the box to keep myself interested," said Handler in a statement.

"I wanted to sit with the cool kids at lunch so I approached Netflix to make sure they were as cool as I thought they were, and when I confirmed my suspicions, like with any other future lover, I made my move.

"I’m more excited than I’ve been in a while, and the team at Netflix is the most forward-thinking, alert group I’ve sat down with in ages. No offense to the Shahs Of Sunset."

Chelsea Lately, Handler’s current late night show on US satellite channel E! will end on August 26 after a successful seven-year run.
