A takeover of English football club Doncaster Rovers by One Direction singer Louis Tomlinson and former club owner John Ryan has been completed.

A spokesman for Ryan told Press Association Sport that the deal had been completed and would be detailed at a press conference in London.

Twenty-two-year-old Tomlinson is a lifelong fan of his hometown club and  also played for the Doncaster reserve team against Barnsley earlier this year.

He had been involved in a previous takeover bid of the club, which will play next season in League One, the third tier of English football.
