A bad cold forced Elvis Costello to cancel a solo show in Michigan last Friday but the veteran performer was back to health for his gig last night (June 16) in Cleveland.
Costello performed three songs on Friday night, before concert promoters, Live Nation, appeared on stage with Elvis and told disappointed fans to keep their tickets for a future, rescheduled show in Ann Arbor.
"Promoters are eye-balling a late summer return for the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame-inducted singer and songwriter," The Oakland Press reported.
Costello reportedly performed a further nine songs before closing the show at Oakland, Michigan. He wowed the crowd in Cleveland, Ohio, last night on his much-acclaimed solo tour in the course of which he can draw from a repertoire of 690 songs.
“It was decidedly NOT a night for the faint of heart,or the weak of bladder," reported local newspaper The Plain Dealer. "Costello filled two-and-a-half hours with songs and stories, some good, some great.
"Both song and story offered insights into the man whose musical roots date back to a grandfather who played cornet for the White Star Line back in England.”
