Cameron Crowe is set to executive-produce an upcoming comedy series for US satellite channel Showtime.

The Almost Famous director is developing a pilot for a show that’s called Roadies. According to notorious US entertainment journalist Nikki Finke, the ensemble comedy show will be about a rock tour.

Crowe is expected to write and direct the pilot for Roadies, which is expected to be produced in collaboration with JJ Abrams's Bad Robot company.

The pilot, if it’s successful and becomes a green-lighted series, will mark the successful film director's first foray into the world of television.

His latest film - an as-yet untitled romantic comedy starring Bradley Cooper, Emma Stone, Rachel McAdams and Bill Murray - is set for release later this year.
