Rockabilly star Imelda May chastised a cheeky BBC interviewer when he asked her if she slept with all her band members before choosing guitarist and husband Darrel Higham.

The interview took place on BBC Radio Stoke and during the discussion, DJ James Watt said:

“Now I know you married one of your band members. Did you, you can tell me Imelda, did you try them all out?

“First? And then decide which one . . .", before the Liberty Belle responded with a mixture of surprise and laughter.

“Excuse me?”, she replied, before putting Watt in his place. “Do you know if you were sitting beside me right now you would either have got a dead leg or a sore shin for that one, you're very lucky.”

The 39-year-old Dubliner has been busy on the promotional trail with her latest album, Tribal, which shot to number one in Ireland, and landed at number three in the UK official charts.

Imelda May plays Dublin's Vicar Street on June 18 and 19 before the Marquee in Cork on June 21, and Galway’s Festival Big Top on July 18.
