Jennifer Lawrence has revealed she accepted her role in Joy via text message with director David O. Russell.
Jennifer Lawrence, who previously worked with director David O. Russell on American Hustle and Silver Linings Playbook, told Live! With Kelly and Michael that she agreed to star as Joy Mangano in the Miracle Mop biopic through text.
Lawrence explained: "[David] recently texted me at, I think, 4 in the morning, and was like, 'I think I want to make a movie about the woman who invented the [Miracle] Mop. You want to do it?' And I was like, 'Yeah'."
She continued: "I could just imagine David looking at somebody mopping and being like, 'Yeah, that's my next screenplay'."
Joy is set for a Christmas 2015 release.
