Wikipedia study says Sinatra most important person

The most important person in the English-speaking world is Frank Sinatra, an analysis of Wikipedia articles reveals.

Michael Jackson is the second most important, and Pope Pius XII is in third place.

The survey was conducted by Young-Ho Eom, of the University of Toulouse. He borrowed methods from Google to analyse Wikipedia pages and determine which individuals have the most important articles linked to them.

Ho Eom and his team did a similar study analysing 24 major language editions of Wikipedia. Adolf Hitler topped the list, Michael Jackson was second, and Madonna was in third place.

"Our analysis shows that most important historical figures across Wikipedia language editions are born in western countries after the 17th century, and are male," the authors write.
