Sligo trad veterans Dervish will make their debut appearance at the Glastonbury Festival this year, sharing a bill which also includes Metallica, Ed Sheeran and Dolly Parton.

The band, who are celebrating their 25th anniversary this year, were first offered a chance to play the prestigious Somerset festival 17 years ago but could not make the booking due to a prior commitment.

“There is huge excitement in the band at the thought of performing at Glastonbury," Flute and whistle player Liam Kelly says.

"It seems that the older the band get the more exciting the offers are that come in and the next year is very exciting with lots of different projects developing for us."

Dervish perform at The Glastonbury Festival on Saturday June 28th on The Avalon Stage at 3.45pm. The band are also planning more gigs and events to mark a quarter of a century together later this year.
