Rod Stewart wrote a song to show his admiration for blondes, he has courted numerous blondes and has married three.
He recently told the Daily Mail that it was his passion for fair-haired fifties starlets such as Marilyn Monroe and Brigitte Bardot that set him on his heady conquest of blonde ladies.
“All I can put it down to is my infatuation with Marilyn Monroe when I was growing up, and maybe Brigitte Bardot, “ the 69-year old musician revealed. “Because when I was a kid, they were the two blonde idols every boy was infatuated with."
Stewart had a relationship with blonde model Jennie Rylance from 1965 to 1967. A four-year courtship with another blonde model, Dee Harrington, began in 1971. He spent two years with the Swedish actress Britt Ekland, who is now 71.
In 1978 he wrote Blondes (Have More Fun), which is also the name of his ninth album. The following year he married his first blonde wife, model and actress Alana Hamilton.
After their divorce he eventually married model Rachel Hunter. They divorced in 2006 and he married his third wife, photographer Penny Lancaster, aged 43, in 2007.
