Bob Geldof has said that his first live performance since the tragic death of daughter Peaches was "cathartic".

Geldof and The Boomtown Rats played a show at the Volksfest festival in Plymouth in the UK on May 25th, his first live gig since the death of his daughter Peaches on April 7th.

Speaking after his performance, 62-year-old Geldof said the experience of performing on stage was "cathartic" and helped him to "purge" some of "the things going on in my head".

He added that the gig would help him to sleep well, which "will be the first time I've slept well in weeks".

Peaches died at her home on April 7th. At the opening of her inquest, Kent Police said recent heroin use "was likely to have played a role" in her death.
