Platoon and JFK director Oliver Stone is set to make a film about NSA whistleblower Edward Snowden.
Stone's planned thriller will be an adaptation of The Snowden Files, an account of the ongoing NSA scandal written by the Guardian journalist Luke Harding.
The Guardian reports that the film will focus on the experiences of the American whistleblower Snowden, who was a contractor at the National Security Agency in the US who leaked thousands of classified documents to the former Guardian columnist Glenn Greenwald in June 2013.
"This is one of the greatest stories of our time," 67-year-old Stone said in a statement. "A real challenge. I'm glad to have the Guardian working with us."
