Emily Blunt has said that learning to act while growing up helped her to deal with her stutter.

The Edge of Tomorrow star told the Sunday Telegraph's Stella magazine that a teacher suggested acting could help in "removing me from me".

"It was the most intuitive thing, and he was right: the only way I could speak fluently was to be someone else," she said.

Blunt said of stuttering: "It alienates you in some ways if you have trouble communicating.

"It wasn't that I got bullied horribly about it, although kids definitely had a go sometimes."

She added: "It comes back if I'm tired or stressed."

Edge of Tomorrow opens on Friday May 30.
