Brad Pitt is reported to be close to signing up for the lead role in acclaimed TV drama True Detective following the departure of current leading men Matthew McConaughey and Woody Harrelson.
Pitt (50) is said to be currently working out his movie schedule so he can commit to the show.
According to a source, “Brad is already part of the HBO family and if commitments allow he will be part of the second season of True Detective. The quality of the scripts means the biggest A-listers in the world want the role.”
McConaughey and Harrelson have said they would not be returning to the roles of Rust Cohle and Marty Hart for the second series.
Showrunner Nic Pizzolatto has said the second series would be about "hard women, bad men and the secret occult history of the United States transportation system."
