Michael Fassbender is currently in talks to star in the upcoming drama The Light Between Oceans, it has been reported.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, the 12 Years a Slave star is in negotiations to play the lead in the film.
Derek Cianfrance (The Place Beyond the Pines) will direct the film which is based on the bestselling novel by ML Stedman.
The Light Between Oceans is set on a remote island off the coast of Western Australia after World War I.
A lighthouse keeper and his wife discover a shipwrecked boat with a dead man and a two-month-old baby.
They decide to raise the baby as their own, and face severe repercussions as their love and morality are tested.
The movie may shoot in Australia.
Fassbender can next be seen in X-Men: Days of Future Past which hits cinemas on May 22.
