Diane Keaton has discussed her struggle with bulimia saying she is a food addict in recovery.
Speaking on The Dr Oz Show, the Annie Hall star opened up about her eating disorder saying she would often consume 20,000 calories a day in her early 20s before managing to get her bulimia under control.
Keaton said, "[An average dinner was] a bucket of fried chicken, several orders of fries with blue cheese and ketchup, a couple TV dinners, a quart of soda, pounds of candy, a whole cake, and three banana cream pies.
"All I did was feed my hunger. So I was an addict. I'm an addict in recovery; I'll always be an addict. I have an addictive nature to me."
She continued, "It was horrible. It was of course the lowest point in my life. I was a fat person, I was an obese person, who had somehow tricked myself and managed to hide it. So when you're living with a lie for four years, think about what that does to you."
On her recovery she added, "One day I stopped and I never, ever did it again. I just stopped, and I don't know why."
