Ed Sheeran and Usher have teamed up for a track which is set to feature on Usher's next album.

The Sing hitmaker, who played Dublin's Vicar Street on Monday night, revealed he met Usher randomly this April and within a few days they were in the studio together.

Ed explained to Zane Lowe on BBC Radio 1: ''I was at a Passover dinner and sat next to Usher, it was quite random.

''I met him once before, but never enough to be like 'Yo what's up man?' but he went over to me with his phone and he's like 'Yo check it out' and he downloaded Sing.

''And he was like 'Yo, man, do you want to get in the studio sometime?' and I was like 'Yes, Usher, I would love to get into the studio sometime.'''

The 23-year-old singer-songwriter didn't waste and time and sent Usher a text at 1am the day after with ideas and soon found himself in the studio with Usher, Diplo and Skrillex.

Sheeran continued: ''[Usher was] like, 'Yeah, we are just getting started. And I went down and we made this awesome song.

"I had this guitar idea on my phone it was literally just a voice note and I emailed it to Skrillex then he took it in sampled it and made a beat out of it, and then me and Usher just went back and forth on melody ideas and lyric ideas.''

Ed confirmed the as-yet untitled collaboration will most likely appear on Usher's next album, which is due for release later this year.

Ed's next album, x, is due for release on June 23.
