Former newsreader Anne Doyle, Joe Duffy, Love/Hate star Aoibhinn McGinnity, and RTÉ current affairs presenter Aine Lawlor will read from novels at "unusual" locations around Dublin on European Literature Night, May 15.
The Free Words on the Street readings will take place in unusual locations such as Freemasons' Hall and No 5 South Leinster Street.
News presenter Aengus MacGrianna and actress and singer Maria Doyle Kennedy will also take part. Their 15-minute readings can be caught every 30 minutes from 6.30pm to 9.00pm, as book fans roam freely from venue to venue.
The readers will dip into contemporary novels that represent 11 countries in Europe. Joe Duffy, for instance, will read from the English translation of Nothing Ever Matters by Spanish writer, Jose Ovejero.
Prague was the first city to mount such a series of free readings and it's now taken on board by Dublin.
