It is reported that Coronation Street bosses have given new deals to 14 cast members on the ITV soap.

The Sun says that Samia Ghadie, who plays Maria, is one of several stars to be given a pay rise, as have Sam Aston (Chesney) and Katie McGynn (Sinead).

Kate Ford (Tracy), Alan Halsall (Tyrone), Tisha Merry (Steph) and Ryan Thomas (Jason) are reported to have agreed new 12-month contracts.

A source told the paper: "There has been a lot of change at Corrie and the bosses were determined not to lose more people.

"But everyone was surprised when they decided to renew 14 contracts at once."

The source added: "It was quite a dramatic move, and reflects how keen they are to secure a host of cast members who they see as real assets.

"The bosses were especially keen to keep Samia. Maria is popular and, after Michelle's [Keegan, who plays Tina] exit, they don't want to lose any more young female stars."
