The Pink Floyd & Syd Barrett Story will be released on May 20 as a two-disc DVD, as well as digital video download.
Originally titled Syd Barrett: Crazy Diamond, the documentary was first shown as part of the BBC Omnibus series in 2001. It was released as a DVD in 2003.
This new upgraded edition features Roger Waters On Syd Barrett on one disc. the second disc features interviews with band members Roger Waters, David Gilmour, Nick Mason, and the late Richard Wright. The 214-minute release includes additional bonus material and new artwork.
The documentary contains footage of the early Floyd classics Arnold Layne, Astronomy Domine, See Emily Play and Jugband Blues.
Guest contributors include Syd Barrett's friend the photographer Mick Rock, producer Joe Boyd,musician Robyn Hitchcock, and Humble Pie drummer Jerry Shirley. Shirley played on the second Syd solo album, Barrett.
Syd Barrett died in 2006 at 60 years of age. His cult status continues to grow, much as the late Nick Drake's posthumous career flourishes in similar fashion, albeit Drake died decades earlier.
