Britain's Got Talent has broken the Guinness World Record for most successful reality television format having spawned 59 versions around the world.

The announcement was made today by President of Guinness World Records, Alistair Richards, who said, "We are delighted to confirm that Got Talent has broken the previous world record and is now the official Guinness World Record holder for most successful reality television format, a landmark moment in television record breaking history, congratulations."

On hearing the news, show creator Simon Cowell said, "I am very proud that Got Talent is a home grown British show. We owe its success to a group of very talented producers all over the world who have made this happen - and of course amazing talent."

Cowell is currently serving as a judge on Britain's Got Talent and is an executive producer on America's Got Talent.

American's Got Talent judges Heidi Klum, Howard Stern, Howie Mandel, Mel B and Nick Cannon posed for a photo on Twitter with their Guinness World Record award.
