Will Ferrell is set to star in Match Maker, a sports-themed comedy drama.
Steve Conrad is writing the script for the battle-of-the-sexes project, which is about the legendary conflict between tennis players Bobby Riggs and Billie Jean King.
The film is based on the ESPN Magazine article The Match Maker: Bobby Riggs, The Mafia and The Battle of the Sexes, which details the infamous rivalry between the duo. Riggs, a tennis champion past his prime, came out of retirement to challenge women's tennis player King in a 1973 game.
Ferrell last starred in Anchorman 2: The Legend Continues.
Conrad most recently wrote The Secret Life of Walter Mitty, and is set to direct the upcoming Emile Hirsch-starring John Belushi biopic.
