BBC Two has confirmed the broadcast date for the start of Steve Coogan and Rob Brydon's The Trip to Italy.

The pair will kick-off their latest comical jaunt on Friday week, April 4 at 10pm.

The Trip to Italy is a follow-up to the 2010 series The Trip, where the pair took a restaurant tour of northern England, and once again Coogan and Brydon will play fictional versions of themselves.

On a road trip across Italy, they will once again enjoy good food and tolerate each other's company while talking about life, love and Michael Caine impersonations.

Michael Winterbottom returns to direct the six-part sequel, which will also be screened as a compilation at this year's Sundance London film festival.
