Acclaimed opera singer Andrea Bocelli married his girlfriend of 12 years, Veronica Berti, over the weekend.

The couple, who have been in a relationship since 2002, tied the knot in Livorno in Tuscany, on their daughter Virginia's second birthday.

Following the ceremony on Friday (March 21) guests joined them for the reception at Bocelli's villa in Forte dei Marmi, near Pisa.

The 54-year-old Italian tenor spoke last year about his intentions to marry Veronica. He told the Daily Mail: "Naturally, when two people feel like we do, they want to make it a permanent arrangement.

"It will happen from the religious and spiritual point of view but it is a legal matter."

This is the second marriage for Bocelli, who separated from his first wife Enrica Cenzatti in 2002.
