Eastenders star Jamie Lomas is set to exit the soap later this year.

The actor, who plays Jake Stone, will film his final scenes on the BBC One show this summer, after bosses decided not to renew his one-year contract.

On Twitter this morning (March 23), Lomas promised fans that there's still drama in store for his character, and also paid tribute to Eastenders' executive producer Dominic Treadwell Collins.

He wrote: "Still loads more amazing stuff to come @bbceastenders so make sure you keep tuned, @dominictc is a legend #watchthisspaceEEbackontopno1".

Lomas joined the cast of Eastenders in June 2013, and made his first appearance onscreen in August.

He was initially introduced as a love interest for Lauren Branning (Jacqueline Jossa) when they met at a support group for recovering alcoholics. However, it was later revealed that Jake was already married to Walford newcomer Sadie Young (Kate Magowan).

Before acting on EastEnders, Lomas was best known for playing Hollyoaks villain Warren Fox.
