Kian Egan has revealed that he thinks One Direction don't have as strong a bond as he had with this Westlife band-mates.

The Sun quotes the singer as saying, "One Direction would be fools to throw it away, absolute fools – and I get the feeling they will. I watch them and they don't seem to have this bond as tight as we had in Westlife – especially as they've only been together three or four years."

Originally a five-piece, Westlife member Brian McFadden left the group in 2004, with the band eventually going on to call it a day in 2012.

Egan added, "As we always said in Westlife, 'There's not one person in a band that's bigger than the band. Respect each other and understand that it's a unit. It's not a bunch of individuals wanting to do what they want to do."

The Voice of Ireland coach added that he would advise the boyband to, "try and pull together and look out for each other and protect each other and stand by each other."

One Direction have been taking a break for the past few months before reuniting to prepare for their upcoming stadium tour. During the down-time they have been following separate pursuits with Harry Styles in the studio with Kodaline, and Liam and Louis working on some songs with Good Charlotte.
