Captain Phillips writer Billy Ray has agreed a deal to pen Leonardo DiCaprio's The Ballad of Richard Jewell.
According to Variety, Ray will adapt the Vanity Fair article American Nightmare: The Ballad of Richard Jewell by Marie Brenner. Ray's other films include The Hunger Games and State of Play.
This new project tells the story of a security guard who saved many lives at the Centennial Olympic Park bombing at the 1996 Summer Olympics in Atlanta but later became a suspect. Jewell died in 2007.
The recently-announced film will reunite Leonardo DiCaprio with his Wolf of Wall Street co-star Jonah Hill.
Hill will play Jewell, who was unjustifiably vilified and scapegoated by sections of the US media, while DiCaprio will play Jewell's lawyer.
