Former BBC journalist Susanna Reid has confirmed her move to ITV saying she is “very excited” by her upcoming channel switch.

Reid has quit the BBC to front a new flagship breakfast show for ITV which is set to replace Daybreak later this year.

She tweeted her followers saying "Thank you for your messages. I'm very excited to be joining Good Morning Britain.

"I have loved being at BBC Breakfast & will miss the team.

"But as a news journalist & presenter I couldn't turn down this opportunity and a new challenge."

The line-up for the new show also includes Ben Shephard, Sky’s Charlotte Hawkins and Sky Sports presenter Sean Fletcher.
