Simon Cowell's partner Lauren Silverman has given birth to a baby boy whom they have named Eric.
Eric was born at 5.45pm yesterday (New York time), February 14 at New York's Lenox Hill Hospital. Despite rumours that the little Cowell would be named after Simon, they opted for the name Eric, after Simon's own father instead.
The music mogul took to Twitter to announce the birth of his son saying, "Very happy to say Eric was born at 17.45pm. Healthy and handsome."
He added, "Lauren in great shape. Thanks for all of your kind messages."
Cowell is said to have flown by private jet to the US as soon as he heard Silverman had gone into labour and was by her side as she gave birth.
A source told JustSimonCowell.com, "You couldn't take the smile off Simon's face. Ever since he walked in the hospital he was beaming from ear-to-ear. Lauren was so happy to see him when he walked in. It is the perfect Valentine's gift the couple could have."
Congratulations have been flooding for the happy family on Twitter.
