The second season of dark political US drama House of Cards is available from today, February 14, on Netflix.

Kevin Spacey, Robin Wright and Kate Mara return as Machiavellian politician Frank Underwood, his duplicitous wife Claire, and Zoe Barnes, an ambitious journalist.

As season two opens, Francis (Spacey) and Claire (Wright) Underwood continue their ruthless rise to power as threats mount on all fronts. Zoe Barnes (Mara), an up-and-coming journalist and Francis’s former paramour, is inching closer to the truth about his crimes.

President Walker’s (Michel Gill, The Good Wife) billionaire confidante Raymond Tusk (Gerald McRaney, Southland) demands that Francis reciprocates political favours or face retribution.

Meanwhile Claire must confront the increasing glare of the spotlight as it eats away at her and Francis’s once private lives.

The Underwood’s must overcome these dangers – both from their past and present - to avoid losing everything, regardless of how much collateral damage they leave in their wake.
