Frances Ha star Greta Gerwig is to play the lead role in the planned How I Met Your Mother spin-off, How I Met Your Dad.
Deadline.com reports that the series tells the story of Sally (Gerwig), a "female Peter Pan" who has no direction in life.
She breaks up with her husband after less than a year of marriage, but finds support in friends and family.
Gerwig will work as producer on the planned series and is also expected to write episodes.
