Former The O.C. star Ben Mckenzie has landed the lead role in a new Batman spin-off, Gotham.
The 35-year-old star, who played Ryan Atwood in the popular American teen drama, will play James Gordon, a police rookie who later rises to the rank of commissioner, in new superhero show Gotham, for Fox.
Atwood confirmed the news on his Twitter page, writing: "All I can promise is I will do my best not to screw this up. Can't wait to get to work."
He later followed it up, tweeting: "Don't worry, I got this...". The comment was accompanied by a snap of Ben in a police outfit sporting what appears to be a photoshopped moustache.
McKenzie recently starred in American drama series Southland, but the series was cancelled last year due to poor ratings.
