Sienna Miller has landed the lead role in the upcoming Whit Stillman Jane Austen adaptation, Love and Freindship (sic), which will be filming in Ireland this summer.

Boys Don't Cry star Chloe Sevigny will also star in the film which Stillman is calling Austen's "most sparkling comedy".

Miller will play the lead role of Lady Susan, the beautiful and scheming protagonist who is determined to find a husband for both herself and her daughter Federica.

The Factory Girl star, 32, has returned to work after taking a year off after having her daughter, Marlowe.

Speaking to Screen, Stillman said: "The other two early novels Jane Austen wrote became Pride and Prejudice and Sense and Sensibility the story of the brilliant Lady Susan Vernon’s struggles with the wealthy, smug De Courcy clan is perhaps her most sparkling comedy.

"In our search for the right Susan Sienna Miller showed how the role might be infused with freshness and verve. She is a wonderful talent who will lead a brilliant ensemble cast.”
