Sophie Ellis-Bextor will perform at the Westport Festival of Music and Food on June 28 and 29.

The singer, songwriter, model and star of Strictly Come Dancing joins Bryan Adams, Kool & The Gang, Sinead O’Connor, The Divine Comedy and David Gray as part of the stellar line-up.

The Westport Festival of Music and Food features over 70 artists and comedians performing across five stages. Other music acts scheduled to perform include The Jim Jones Revue, The Ukulele Orchestra of Great Britain,  Kila, The Selecter (starring Pauline Black and Gaps Hendrickson),  Bjorn Again, Tony Joe White, The Bootleg Beatles, The Hot Sprockets and The Kilfenora Céili Band. 

Alien Envoy, the new project from Nick Kelly, of The Fat Lady Sings will air new work in the County Mayo town. Westport House will have a food village and onsite camping for festival patrons. 

Ellis-Bextor has released five solo albums and her hit songs include Groovejet (If This Ain’t Love), Murder On The Dancefloor, Take Me Home and Catch You.  While her true glory days as pop artist were back in the early 2000s, the singer’s recent album, Wanderlust, reached number four in its first week in the UK charts.
