Madonna has confirmed she will perform at the The Grammy Awards, joining Beyoncé, Jay Z, Metallica, Katy Perry, Lorde and Robin Thicke on the star studded bill.

The Queen of Pop revealed her plans to perform on her Instagram account posting a picture of her dressed all in black - including leather gloves - and strumming a black guitar.

Underneath she wrote: ''It's official. I'm off my crutches and looking for the perfect pair of heels to wear to the Grammys.''

The singer has spent the last couple of week on crutches as she was suffering from a bruised a bone in her foot, which she claimed was ''from dancing in high heels''.

Last month it was rumoured Madonna would appear with Beyonce, who was also confirmed to appear earlier this week. However, many fans initially thought Beyonce would take to the stage with her husband, Jay Z, prompting speculation all three could be working on a special collaboration.

The 56th annual Grammy Awards will be hosted by LL Cool J this Sunday, January 26.
