NBC is bringing a new CIA drama starring Katherine Heigl to pilot after intense interest in the project from a number of US networks.
State of Affairs is being developed at Universal Television, says The Hollywood Reporter. Joe Carnahan is slated to write, executive produce and direct the pilot.
The story has been pitched as Scandal meets The West Wing and tells the tale of a CIA officer played by Heigl who is selected to be the daily briefer of the US President.
The drama if it goes to a full series will mark Heigl’s first return to Television since she left the role of Izzie on Grey’s Anatomy in 2010.
