Love/Hate star Mary Murray, who plays hard-as-nails brothel owner and Nidge's new squeeze Janet in the hit crime drama, is set to star alongside Hollywood actor Josh Hartnett in new TV drama Penny Dreadful.

As well as Murray and Pearl Harbor star Hartnett, the macabre Victorian drama, which has been shooting around Dublin recently, also stars Timothy Dalton and Billie Piper.

Penned by Bond screenwriter John Logan, Penny Dreadful will reportedly hit screens by mid-2014 and features major characters from literature such as Frankenstein and Dorian Gray in an interweaving storyline.

Speaking to The Herald, Ballyfermot actress Murray said: "Just getting to see how he [Logan] works will be amazing!"

Murray, who also appeared in Adam and Paul and The Magdaline Sisters, added that she has a small part on the show and will only be on set for two days. "I play a Victorian lady. I can't say too much about the part but it involved a murder scene. I can't wait to get on set and into the costume."
