Quentin Tarantino's upcoming Western will reportedly be called The Hateful Eight.

Tarantino announced in late 2013 that he was writing a new Western-themed movie and had put the heavily-rumoured third Kill Bill film on hold.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, the writer-director is about to cast the movie, and has written a part for his frequent collaborator Christoph Waltz.

The title The Hateful Eight could be a reference to The Magnificent Seven, the John Sturges adaptation of Akira Kurosawa's classic movie Seven Samurai.

Tarantino's last Western film Django Unchained earned him a Best Original Screenplay Oscar.
