Hugh Jackman has stepped away from the Broadway musical production of Houdini.
In a statement the 45-year-old actor said, "I have greatly enjoyed the collaborative process on Houdini. Ultimately, though, I wasn't able to commit to the time this role will require.
"I have tremendous respect and admiration for the creative team and I wish everyone the best. I know they're well on their way to making something extraordinary."
It was announced in January 2012 that the Wolverine star would play the legendary escape artist Harry Houdini and it was reported that Jackman had been involved in the project even before this announcement.
