Emma Stone has said that starring in The Amazing Spider-Man franchise has given her an introduction into the ''boys' club''.
The 25-year-old actress, who plays Peter Parker's high school sweetheart Gwen Stacy in the Marvel comic adventure, explained that she loves her role.
Speaking to Total Film magazine, Stone said: "Everyone's like, 'Oh, Mary Jane [Peter Parker's later love interest]! I know Mary Jane'.
"But Gwen's been a fun one to play because only really passionate comic book fans know the story. And that's been a really cool introduction to the comic book world and to being in the boys' club.''
Stone added that she has yet to encounter a super-fan, saying: ''Not many. Weirdly, I don't meet that many super fans in my day-to-day life. I thought more people would say something about Gwen.''
When asked about her relationship with her on-screen co-star, Andrew Garfield, Stone said: ''He's grown as a person in the same way you've grown as a person, so I think that lends itself to a character in many ways. He looks different. He seems different."
The Amazing Spider-Man 2 is out on April 18, 2014.
