Ian McShane has hinted that Lovejoy could be due for restoration after nearly 20 years off our TV screens.
Speaking to the latest edition of the Radio Times, McShane, who played the titular roguish antique dealer on the show, said: "Sky talked about it last year. I said, 'If you're serious about it, why not make it about Lovejoy's daughter this time? And maybe I could do guest appearances on an antique Zimmer frame. That'd be terrific"
McShane has since won massive acclaim for his role in HBO western series Deadwood. He also said he has kept in touch with his co-star Phyllis Logan, who played Lovejoy's nearly-but-not-quite love interest Lady Jane Felsham in the series which ran on BBC from 1986 to 1994.
Logan now stars in Downton Abbey as housekeeper Mrs Hughes but when asked to put a value on the hit ITV period drama, McShane wasn't so keen: "It's not my kind of show, but she's such a marvellous actress," he said. "I don't think it's well written. Upstairs Downstairs was better."
