Samuel L Jackson has been cast in the upcoming adaptation of Stephen King's apocalyptic thriller Cell.
The Django Unchained star will appear alongside John Cusack in the film, which is based on a 2006 novel by the renowned author.
The film follows an event known as "the pulse", which transforms people using a mobile phone at that moment into crazed psychopaths, known as "the crazies".
Jackson will play survivor Tom McCourt, an engineer and former solider, while Cusack will play the lead role of comic book artist Clayton Riddell who is struggling to reunite with his son.
This is the second time Jackson and Cusack have starred opposite each other, having previously appeared in 1408, another Stephen King adaptation.
Cell, which has been developed for film by King himself, will be directed by Tod 'Kip' Williams.
Production on the movie is expected to begin in January 2014.
Jackson can next be seen in Spike Lee's Oldboy.
