David Duchovny is eager for The X Files creator Chris Carter to finish the script for another big-screen instalment of the fan-favourite supernatural TV show.

It's been five years since Muldor (Duchovny) and Scully's (Gillian Anderson) last outing on the big screen, and the 53-year-old actor is keen to begin work on the next X Files movie, however he fears Chris Carter might be too busy to finish the script.

Speaking to Reddit.com Duchovny said: "Chris is shooting a pilot right now, so he might not be working on a script, but he claims to be working on a script, and if he does do that and (20th Century) Fox wants to make it... Gillian (Anderson) will do it, I will do it, so start your writing campaign now.

"Seriously. We'd all love to do it. The ball is in Fox's hands. And not (his character) Fox Mulder, Fox the studio."

He added: "We want to see (President) Obama's picture in the office. We gotta hurry. We don't want to leave it off at the ex-Bush. Or we'd love Hillary (Clinton) up there. Hillary and (co-star) Mitch Pileggi as the attorney general."
